Selection of hot and cold fluid flow channels for U-tube heat exchangers

Mar 27, 2019

In order to increase the flow rate of the shell-side fluid during use, the U-tube heat exchangers is often provided with a number of baffles that are perpendicular to the bundle of tubes in the housing. The baffle plate not only prevents fluid short circuit, increases fluid flow rate, but also forces the fluid to flow through the tube bundle multiple times in a prescribed path, so that the degree of turbulence is greatly increased. Commonly used baffle baffles are round and disc shaped, and the former is more commonly used.

To a certain extent, the U-tube heat exchangers must take into account the influence of its thermal expansion from the structure, and adopt various compensation methods when using it to eliminate or reduce the thermal stress during the operation, according to the temperature difference compensation measures taken. .

Selection of hot and cold fluid flow channels for U-tube heat exchangers

1. When the U-tube heat exchangers is in operation, its unclean and easy to scale liquid should be taken away from the tube, because it is easy to clean inside the tube.

2. The corrosive fluid of the U-tube heat exchangers should be taken away from the tube to avoid simultaneous corrosion of the tube bundle and the shell.

3. The pressure of the U-tube heat exchangers should be high to avoid the pressure of the shell.

4. The saturated steam of the U-tube heat exchangers should be taken away from the shell. Because the saturated steam is relatively clean, the convective heat transfer coefficient is independent of the flow rate and the condensate is easy to discharge.

5. The cooled fluid should be taken away from the shell for heat dissipation.
